I've never really had a real history with the Mortal Kombat games. I remember playing my neighbors copy of MK3 for the Super Nintendo and liking the blue ninja because he was blue, but other than that my interest has never been that titillated by the series until recently. Since the Super Nintendo days my tolerance for violence and sense of humor have both changed significantly. With the series going back to it's roots I can come to appreciate the wild over then top violence and humor the series is famous for. I mean this new game is going back in time to the MK 1, 2 and 3 so Raiden can fix the mistakes of the future. What a great metaphor.
It's been really weird, ever since I've watched some of the more recent gameplay, I've wanted to know more about this classic fighting series and go back to the older ones. Sadly MK3 is no longer sold on Xbox Live so i may have to check PSN for MK2. But this could be a great throwback that makes Mortal Kombat a little more relevant in a time where fighting games are not as popular as they use to be. Just look at Street Fighter 4. Perhaps this is all just fueled by a sense of nostalgia, but the first 3 games were what everyone wants out of Mortal Kombat games. So if they are able to make each of the characters unique I think this game could really be something worth playing. From the look of it they have the mood down pat with some interesting fatalities and the xray critical hits. So I'm looking forward to ripping some hearts out or blowing a thunder god up into big meaty chunks. Hopefully I'll be able play this with someone around my skill level because that has been something that has been a real handicap for the enjoyment of fighting games. If things turn out well I can see myself having a fun time with the ridiculous nature of the game.

  6. As time goes by, it got gritter, and nastier and bloodier but that's what the fans pretty much want. More blood, and more guts, and more shit coming out of a persons body. MK9 is going to be fun, but I hope they pack a massive amount of characters in it.

  • COD: Multiplayer Trailer

I'll admit, I haven't been too excited for Call of Duty: Black Ops. The only thing that has really interested me so far has been the single player, because the Call of Duty campaigns have always been great at delivering an action-packed, intense single player experience. Check it out!
