If you thought Xbox Live's Summer of Arcade failed to hit home this year, then you might be pleasantly surprised to find out that Microsoft is rolling out a new Fall series, entitled "Game Feast," aiming to satisfy all of your arcade cravings. According to Xbox Live's very own, Major Nelson, "Game Feast" will run from September 29 through October 20, and it looks to be sporting a pretty tasty line up of treats for us gamers.

First up, coming September 29, is Hydrophobia, a game that's all about water. Showing off Dark Energy's brand new, Hydro Engine technology, Hydrophobia will allow players to manipulate water, in a very realistic way, and use it to their advantage, whether it be through gameplay or traversing the environment. According to the official website, you play as Kate Wilson, a systems engineer who is trying to escape the flooding "Queen of the World," a giant ship that doubles as a floating city and is home to the elite, wealthy upper class.

For an arcade title, it's quite ambitious. I'm really into the whole manipulation of water concept, but I'm worried that the small budget, and arcade limitations may be holding back the true potential of a game that could've been fleshed out for a full retail. I just feel that, had this game been given a big time budget and more time, we could have something amazing, instead of just a possibly unique arcade experience. However, I'll still be giving it a try, and who knows, maybe it'll turn out to be a really great experience, despite my worries for the game.

Next up is Comic Jumper, which will be making its way to Xbox Live Arcade on October 6. From Twisted Pixel Games, the developers of the Xbox Live hit Splosion Man, comes a new adventure about superheroes. You play as Captain Smiley and his "chestkick" Star, who are down and out superheroes trying to get back into the spotlight. You'll be jumping from comic book to comic book, trying to tie together loose plots and of course, get some hard earned cash for your hard work. It's hard enough trying to explain the game in words, so just take a look at the trailer below, and judge for yourself.

Comic Jumper looks like it'll be a lot of fun. The dialogue between Captain Smiley and Star is cleverly written, and I can only expect that more hilarity will follow. The gameplay, even though a little straightforward, appears to be well executed, but obviously you can never tell until you actually get your hands on it. I know a lot of the VGH guys are really excited about Comic Jumper, after having played Splosion Man and enjoying it as much as they did, so look forward to a review on this one shortly after it's out.

If realistic, water physics and insane, comic antics aren't your cup of tea, and you're looking for something a little more "arcade-y," then look no further than Pinball FX 2. The sequel to Zen Studio's Pinball FX, the game promises pinball, and lots of it.

I don't really know much about the first Pinball FX game, so I can't really say much on this new sequel. However, I could probably go out on a limb here and say that, if you like pinball, this could be a game to check out, or at least download the trial. Pinball FX 2 will be hitting the Xbox Live Marketplace on October 13

The main course for this year's "Game Feast" is my personal favorite out of the bunch, Super Meat Boy, which will be released on October 20. Xbox.com describes Super Meat Boy the best, saying it is a "tough-as-nails platformer," yes, this will be a hard game. You play as a block of meat, trying to save your kidnapped girlfriend. Where the game really shines is in its level design. As Meat Boy, you're gonna be traversing some of the most hazardous terrain I've ever seen in a game, ranging from high powered machinery to buzzing saws, all while traveling at break neck speeds. You thought Limbo was rough, wait'll you see what Meat Boy has to go through.

Being my most anticipated arcade game out of the bunch, I really hope this game does well. It looks like it will be a really fun and challenging game, that may or may not cause hours upon hours of frustration. This is one of those games where, it may appear simple at first, and then turn out to have a lot of depth and strategy to it. Here's to hoping that Super Meat Boy, will be as fun and frantic as the videos make it out to be.

Judging by the line up, it looks like I'll be feastin' on some delicious arcade titles this fall. Also, I'm actually kind of glad that they're starting to spread out these big Xbox Live Arcade titles throughout the year, instead of bunching them all into the Summer of Arcade. Who knows, maybe we'll even get a Xbox Live Yuletide Bash this holiday season, you never know what Microsoft's got cookin' up their sleeves. Anyways here's a condensed version of all the games, their release dates and some of their prices.

September 29 - Hydrophobia, 1200 Microsoft Points

October 6 - Comic Jumper, 1200 Microsoft Points

October 13 - Pinball FX 2, Tables purchased individually, free import from original Pinball FX

October 20 - Super Meat Boy, Pricing TBD

As always, thanks for reading guys. Also, don't forget to head on over to the VGH forums by clicking here or at the top of the page, to discuss all of this fall's "Game Feast" goodness. Hope you have a great rest of the week, and if all goes well my Shank review should be up in the next day or so.

  3. Comic Jumper looks amazing. If you haven't seen it yet, find the preview vid on Xbox Live or YouTube it, although the quality isn't as good.

  5. This lineup looks better than the summer arcade games they released. I only bought Limbo, but I am most likely getting Hydrophobia. Comic Jumper looks pretty good, too. I had to look up Super Meat Boy, not sure what I think of it yet.

  6. Where the hell is BattleBlock Theater?

  8. I'm also super stoked for Sonic Adventure and Crazy Taxi. Even though they have no relevance to this discussion they'll be on Arcade sometime this month I believe.
