In Capcom's acclaimed zombie prologue Dead Rising 2: Case Zero, the small city of Still Creek has a population of 753 residents. That number has increased rapid and considerably since the game lifted off late last month, as Capcom today announced the game as one of the fastest-selling Xbox Live Arcade title of all time.
Case Zero is established between the occurrence of the original Dead Rising and its continuation and introduces the second title's main character and protagonist, Chuck Greene. In the prologue, Greene and his infected daughter are escaping a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas but find themselves stranded in Still Creek when someone steals their truck, along with the drugs that keep Chuck's daughter from turning into one of the undead. Players then have to juggle finding a new mode of transportation with making sure Chuck's daughter gets her medicine and rescuing survivors before the military arrives to quarantine and cleanse the area. (With bombs.)

This success Blue Castle and Capcom is no surprise. Within the anticipation for Dead Rising 2, it seems that they were able to pull off a really interesting prologue, and it makes all the much more exciting for the release of the game on September, 28th. Everyone is drooling over the fact that they cannot get enough of this game, and also here at VGH everyone played it, and we cannot get enough of it either! Congratulations to Blue Castle and Capcom for their newly found success.

No surprise here, great game for dirt cheap. Hopefully this will catch on like the DLC trend has.
Hope we see more developers taking the "prologue" route in the future.
From a business perspective, this was a brilliant move by Capcom. Such a low price for a good quality game. Not only will they make a ton of money off this DLC, but they just guaranteed themselves a significant boost for Dead Rising 2 sales.
Daddy can fix anything.
Nice work Capcom! Keep up the good work! Can't wait for Dead Rising 2.
Awesome! congrats Capcom.
Now its just the wait for Dead Rising 2 that I should try to survive..
congrats capcom!
I've been curious for about a year now as to why prologue DLC wasn't being done. It's probably the best way to market your game to gamers! Have them pay to play the demo, more or less, and as a result, carryover achievements, weapons, leveling, etc., while still getting a nice additional chunk of story. BRILLIANT!
congrats capcom!
It's only 5 bucks guys. Even if it were a money grab, they didn't grab very much of my money.
Make a review, now. So I can actually get it and know I'm not spending 5 bucks where I could have gotten some Mcdonalds.
Every company is looking at this right now. and i have a feeling that we may see more of these for different games, cheap prequel. i mean it was cheap and fun. i wasn't even planning on getting the game but how can i say no to this for only 5 bucks. of course i changed my mind and i will get the game.
I wish you guys made a VGH review about this.
I wouldn't mind paying for a demo if the demo were to contain content not found in the retail version of the game.
Yeah.. it was dirt cheap and pretty fun. Two positives, don't equal a negative. So everyone decided to give it a try. Not really that great of an achievement. Shadow Complex was a bigger achievement since it cost most. If SC was $5 it would have sold over 300K in one day.
I wouldn't be surprised if its the truth. Thats what happens when the price is right and the actual game is interesting. maybe more will follow their lead.
Thoughts VGH? Review? Anything? I just see a layout with the case zero but nothing really on it.
It being dirt cheap and really fun helped out the sales a bit probably.
I actually lost interest after playing the demo, I don't really know why. I guess I expected something else, but I do plan on getting it though, eventually (and new, just because I like Capcom).
I hope this game will have a machete, like the movie Machete
Capcom keeps doing this and they won't be in the red anymore
REVIEW? WHERE IS IT?!
