Gamescom 2010: Ubisoft presented and revealed their brand new name for "Project Dust", also they went ahead and put a release date window on this downloadable god game for 360, PS3, PC.

In the 2010 EEE (Electronic Entertainment Expo) or as we all know it the E3 press conferences, Ubisoft showed off a rather weird and mysterious teaser trailer for a downloadable game it called "Project Dust". For this week's Gamescom meeting, the publisher and developers shed a little more perspective on this project, officially renaming it "From Dust" and giving it a March release.

A little about the Project...

"From Dust" casts the main player as a supernatural force looking out for tribes in a seeming paradise
beset by natural disasters. By transporting environmental factors such as land, water, vegetation, and lava around tropical environs, players can open up new pathways for villagers and protect them from earthquakes and other calamities. The various threats in the game can also be turned to the players' advantage; for example, a well-placed tsunami could extinguish wildfires rather than sweep away villages.

From Dust is set for release on Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, and through PC downloadable storefronts like Steam.

IMHO, VGH?
In my honest opinion, I think it looks pretty similar to Lion Head studio's successful PC franchise Black & White and Bullfrog's Populous where you are this god-like force and you have to make sure to take care of your community or villagers wherever you go. I thought the trailer was a little bit vague and broad to have any serious opinions about this game but it is something to look forward to next year but till then we just have to wait and see.

  1. Certainly reminds me of Black & White, though this is obviously a different take on the god-game genre. I'm somewhat interested, though it's easy for me to tell it won't run on my laptop.

  9. Looks interesting, though what exactly will the point of the game be? The reason I am asking is because this game looks original, but that still confuses me greatly....

  11. i think this would be great even though i think ubisoft is a smudge in the industry with in this time has only 2 good series and then rayman which they are reviving

  12. Looks interesting.

  13. Never heard of it before it was below my radar and will stay that way i guess til it gets closer to release date.

I'll admit, I haven't been too excited for Call of Duty: Black Ops. The only thing that has really interested me so far has been the single player, because the Call of Duty campaigns have always been great at delivering an action-packed, intense single player experience. Check it out!
