With Lara Croft rounding out the Xbox Live Summer of Arcade event, most gamers are probably ready to kick back, with a warm cup of chamomile tea, and enjoy the fruits of their purchases. But, before you start raiding tombs and exploring the dark, fly infested forest of the in between, don't forget about another little arcade title that's filled with so much over the top violence and action, that it makes The Expendables look like a walk in the park.

Of course, I'm talking about Shank. What, you haven't heard of Shank? Well then, take a look at the launch trailer for this upcoming side-scrolling, action title from Klei Entertainment, coming this month to both the PSN, on the 24th, and Xbox Live Arcade on the 25th.

Is it insane? Yeah. Is it over the top. Of course. Is it full of violent, side-scrolling mayhem that looks amazingly fun to play? Absolutely! If you can't tell, I'm pretty excited about Shank. The art style is visually stunning, the combos look like a lot of fun, not to mention violent, and the story has a very Robert Rodriguez-esque atmosphere to it, think Grindhouse and Machete. The one thing I can't figure it out though, is why they decided to leave it out of the Summer of Arcade line up for the Xbox 360? This game seems like it would fit perfectly with the whole summer vibe of violence and blowin' stuff up. Maybe Klei Entertainment didn't want to rush the game out, just for the Summer of Arcade, in which case I applaud them for wanting to make a quality product for us gamers.

All I know, is that Shank is coming out this week, and I couldn't be more excited. Get ready to bust out those Microsoft Points one last time, because Shank looks like it could be a keeper. If you're still on the fence though, you can always wait for the VGH review, which, once I get my hands on the game Wednesday, should be up within the next week.

Also, look out for my Lara Croft review on Wednesday. I'll let you know if raiding tombs with Totec and Lara, isometric style, was worth the wait or not.

I guess that's about it for this Monday afternoon, comments are always welcome and don't forget, if you want to join in on more Shank discussion head on over to the Official VGH Forums by clicking here or at the top of the page. As always, thanks for reading!

  2. This game looks alright, I mean the blood is just intense and the cartoon is just plain fun. Might have to check it out when it comes out with a demo.

  • COD: Multiplayer Trailer

I'll admit, I haven't been too excited for Call of Duty: Black Ops. The only thing that has really interested me so far has been the single player, because the Call of Duty campaigns have always been great at delivering an action-packed, intense single player experience. Check it out!
