A few days ago Superdave asked in the forums "So, since you guys have been trying to get the 7 Day Survivor achievement care to share your tips and tricks on how to get it?" Sorry Dave for not answering you in the forums, Kurt had the minor details covered. Though since Dead Rising 2 is coming out and people might be replaying the first one then here are the real tips and tricks. BTW if you haven't played Dead Rising yet, go get it. It is about $8 now and worth the 6+ hours you will put into it.

5 and 7 Day Survivor are some of the most annoying achievements on Xbox. Not because they are hard but because 1 Day of game time is 2 hours of real life. This means that you have to survive for 14 hours with NO SAVING. Your character has to be on level 50. In this mode your health slowly drains, after 20 mins of real time you will die if you don't eat anything. So ALWAYS have 2 full health items.

It is also a good idea to have the Mega Buster. This is unlocked by getting Zombie Genocider.

Full health items are:
-Milk
-Orange Juice
-Coffee Creamer
-Wine
-Cooked Pizza
-Cooked Meat
-Mixed Drinks (get off psychopaths: Nectar, Quickstep, etc.)
You should let your health drain to the last bar before using these items.

You NEED the 3 health books (I will tell you where they are below):
Health 1 - 50% health
Health 2 - 50% health
Survivalist - 100% health
These will increase the amount that the food you eat will heal you.
DO NOT EAT ANY FOOD UNTIL YOU HAVE ALL 3.
Whatever food you eat will have 3x the healing power. Apple is normally 2, now heals 6. Get it?

First off lets get the physical items you will need covered:

1. Some type of energy drink, whether that be Coke, MtnDew, 5hr energy, Red Bull, etc.
Remember this is a 14 hour achievement, an energy drink is essential to keep you up.

2. Food. Something nearby that you can grab and munch on.

3. Someone to talk to. This achievement is a lot of sitting and waiting for your health to drain, having someone else doing it with you or just someone there is very helpful to keep you awake and alert.

4. Something to pass the time. Like I said above, this is a lot of sitting. If you have a podcast, music, movie, TV show or book to keep your attention then you will be better off.

5. A timer. You should have a timer set to 18 mins every time you eat a food item. This will keep you alert to when you need to eat again. It is one of the most important things.

6. Patience. If you are one to get tired of something after 20 mins then do not go for this. This is for someone who is dedicated. If you die it is a waist of time and you will have to start all over again.

7 Day Survivor start up guide:
(I do not suggest picking up food on the map, keep a mental note of where it is incase you are ever in trouble.)
1. Run and grab the Mega Buster. (In corner of safe room)
2. Run into the Entrance Plaza through the welded shut door. Run around to the other side of the bee clock on the 2nd floor, go into the book shop, go to the back right and pick up Health book 1. Ignore Paul for now.
3. Go Back to the safe room. Run out of the safe room using the air vent path. Kill Otis. Pick up his Raw Meat.
4. Go through the secrete passage in Paradise Plaza to Wonderland Plaza.
5. Go to the book store the Japanese Tourists were in(in main game) and grab Health Book 2.
6. Exit Wonderland Plaza into the Food Court.
7. Kill Carlito (Carlito has a P90). Pick up his food and Meat.
8. Run to the back and cook whatever food you have that needs to be cooked in the microwaves.
9. Run outside into the park where the convicts spawn.
10. Go to North Plaza
11. Open up the doors next to Crislips(Where the three survivors spawn in the main game) and pick up the Survivalist book.
12. Go back to the park. Kill the Sniper Family. Take all their food and wait up on the roof of the building they were perched on. You will have to drop food on the roof. Make sure to grab the oranges immediately or they will roll away from you.
13. Pick up one of their snipers and watch the bell tower until it strikes noon. Now everything should fit into your inventory and you should be on the move.

Things to Remember:
-Do NOT go into the Food Court on day 4. The game usually freezes on that day.
-Find a place online (probably Dead Rising Wikia) that lists when each of the survivors appears on the map and what they drop. This way you can plan out your next move. Pick up all food the survivors/Psychopaths drop. Even if it is a bag of chips.
-Keep an idea on where you can get high healing food in a pinch. Some good places are the Movie Theater, Food Court, and Alfresca Plaza.
-There is no need to go into the maintenance tunnels.
-Keep a watch on your life.
-Cook food if needed
-Hide in places where zombies cant get you
-Get new Mega Busters often
-Don't think the safe room is safe for long. Day 5 zombies invade the safe room.
-Survivors spawn on the helipad often. Look out for them. Some survivors will spawn dead.
-Do not attempt to kill the convicts, they give you no food. Just avoid them.
-Don't worry about getting hurt. This mode is more forgiving than people think.
-Have fun!

  2. Hey is there a glitch or something in Dead Rising? I mean I was trying to get both 5/7 day survivor and I was in the food court and I went to Wonderland Plaza (I think that’s the name of the place) but it was full of zombies and I went back to the food court but the game froze at the loading screen. I had 4 days and 22 hours this was very depressing. Why does thus happen!
