The Hulu Plus announcement page is touting this new premium service as, "More Wherever. More Whenever. Than Ever." The marketing phrase could use a little work in my opinion, but from what has been announced, it seems that Hulu Plus will be offering full seasons of some of this year's biggest shows, including Glee, The Office, House and Grey's Anatomy and will also release every episode of shows like Heroes, 30 Rock and Prison Break.
However, the major draw of Hulu Plus seems to be the ability to stream Hulu on multiple devices such as the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. Everyone in the Apple world has been feverishly awaiting a Hulu app and it seems that their time has finally come.
In addition to your Apple devices, you will also be able to stream Hulu on and app enabled Samsung TV or Blu-ray player. The release page also mentions that Hulu Plus will be coming to the Playstation 3 this year, many are speculating a July release. It will also be available on the Xbox 360 sometime in 2011.
The one downside, for all of you PS3 owners out there, is that there have been some big rumors circulating that Hulu Plus will only be available to Playstation Plus subscribers. If that were so, and you were planning on keeping each service year round you would be looking at $50 for a year of Playstation Plus and $120 for a year of Hulu Plus. That's $170 bucks, quite a hefty price for a service that I can still get free on my computer.
For now, as tempting as Hulu on the PS3 sounds, I think I'll hold off 'til some kind of bundle or price reduction or something, because $170 is a lot of money. What do you guys think?
170 bucks, for hulu? I might stick to my computer
It has every episode of every season of many of the great shows on ABC, NBC, and FOX. So if there was ever a show you wanted to watch get it for a month and watch the show then get rid of it.
I don't think I would be too excited to buy TV shows on my PS3 to be honest, but go Hulu.
I think its ridiculous how Hulu is doing this now, I am an iPod Touch owner who has wanted a Hulu app for a long time but, I knew sometime Hulu would have to fine a revenue for their service I just didn't think it would be this way... People who are desperate and want to spend the $9.99 will do it but I am sure a lot of people will stick with Hulu.com. Its only a matter of time until Hulu sees whats really going on...
